After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.

CHEERS ELEPHANT - we played with these Philly killers at the idaho house some weeks ago. sugar sweet indie/rock/pop kinda sound. they’re awesome live, have a great video here, and they’ve got a sweet little album up on bandcamp for “name your own price” kinda deal, so no money still gets you sweet tunes! - but you should toss’em a couple bucks if you can spare. its worth it!

YES!! This is one of the best modern bands i know of that is currently active. The main dude, John Davis, was the drummer for Q and Not U, also played in Georgie James, and anyone who’s read my blog posts knows that I’m a total Dischord Records fanboy. None the less, both albums by Title Tracks are as solid as the best of them, and neither are Dischord releases (just distro).

Horace Andy’s In The Light / Dub The Light was the first real plunge I took into reggae and dub music. Maybe that’s why it’s still my favorite. Or it could be his candy sweet voice, or the tight-knit drums and bass action swaying back and forth, and perfectly timed delay swirling you up just as fast as the bong smoke.
If you haven’t given this record a spin i highly recommend it.

Rites Of Spring- Remainder [lyrics] (check the song for yourself if you don’t believe me)
We are all trapped in prisons of the mind,
it’s a hard sensibility
but we’ll see it through in time
but when words come between us
Noiseless in the air
Believe me, I know it’s so easy to despair.
but don’t
Tonight i’m talking to myself
There’s no one that I know as well
Thoughts collide without a sound
Frantic, fighting to be found
And I’ve found things in this life
that still are real
a remainder refusing to be concealed
And I’ve found the answer lies in a real emotion
Not the self-indulgence of a self-devotion
Too many situations
Left with too little to say
So we try, we try to feel our way
And if decisions cause divisions
Tell me who’s to blame?
Pick a target for convenience
When there are other ways
So don’t
Tonight i’m talking to myself
There’s no one that I know as well
Thoughts collide without a sound
Frantic, fighting to be found
And I’ve found things in this life
that still are real
a remainder refusing to be concealed
I’ve found the answer lies in a real emotion
Not the self-indulgence of a self-devotion
